You hear Tangalooma, you think of dolphins!

tangaloomaThe highlight of any visit to Tangalooma is undoubtabll the opportunity to hand feed one of the wild bottlenose dolphins that visit the shores each evening at sunset. There is a large family of these playful dolphins that visit regularly, each with their own distinctive and unique personalities.
Tangalooma’s wild dolphin feeding program operates each evening at sunset. The Dolphin Care Team, consisting of Eco Rangers and dedicated staff, run the program which operates to strict guidelines to ensure the protection of the dolphins.
The dolphins come into feed, usually arriving just after sunset, and of their own accord. We never call the dolphins in. It is quite normal for any one of them to be absent from the feed on consecutive nights and this is not something to be worried about – they are probably having too much fun in the Bay!
To ensure the dolphins maintain their natural instincts and independence, Tangalooma only feed each of the dolphins between 10 to 20 percent of their daily food requirement. This ensures they also hunt for themselves and can survive on their own. Herring are fed to the dolphins as they are a species that is commonly found in the Bay.
Tangalooma operates launch transfer services from Holt Street Wharf, Pinkenba in Brisbane. Passengers travel in comfort across Moreton Bay aboard one of three high speed catamarans – the Tangalooma Jet, Flyer, and Express. To reduce emissions, the fleet runs on the highest grade and only DERM-approved marine bio-fuel.
Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Feeding Experience is included in selected accommodation and day cruise packages from Brisbane.

The Storyliners 2018 – The Library, Koh Samui

The Storyliners 2018 – The Library, Koh Samui

06It is said that to tell stories is what makes us human, and we are in part defined by the narratives we create. Story is the language of memory. It nurtures our artistic impulses and entices us to dream. Since 2007, The Library has provided a space for guests to flourish – a blank “page” where one  can  be  inspired  to  write  his  or  her  own  story.

This  year,  the  iconic  hotel  in  Koh  Samui reinforces  its  keen  connection  with  the  Arts by  inviting  4  creative  talents  to produce  a  set  of  original  artworks,  culminating  in  a  group  exhibition  in  December for  the  benefit  of  2  local  charities:  the  Samui  Learning  Centre  for  Children  with  Special  Needs  and  the  Dog  and  Cat  Rescue  Samui Foundation. The Library is proud to present its main campaign for 2018 called “The Storytellers”.

Happy Birthday Rawnsley Park Station

Happy Birthday Rawnsley Park Station

downloadJoin our celebration! 2018 marks 50 years of tourism for Rawnsley Park Station!

Rawnsley Park Station welcomed its first paying guests in May 1968, with the then owners Clem and Alison offering basic accommodation in one cabin and running sheep shearing demonstrations to generate extra income on the then struggling sheep station.

Fifty years later, Rawnsley Park Station is a world-class tourism venture that is a key player in South Australia’s tourism industry. Under the stewardship of Clem and Alison’s eldest son, Tony, and his wife, Julie, Rawnsley Park Station has won multiple tourism awards, and their luxury eco-villas have been lauded as one of the best regional tourism developments in the State.

Owner Tony Smith said his parents’ vision and foresight had laid the foundations for Rawnsley Park Station becoming the success story it is today.

“Times were tough on a sheep station in the Flinders Ranges in the 1960s, and Clem and Alison realised they had to diversify to survive,” he said. “It was a decision that paid off.

We certainly agree with you there, Tony! For more information, please contact Abbie on abbie@slcrepresentation.co.uk
