Daydream Island Resort has now re-opened following an extensive 18-month AUD$100 million refurbishment.
The 1km by 400-metre island resort offers 277 guest rooms and suites, giving guests the feel of a private island without the price tag. At the centre of the 4.5* resort is The Living Reef, a free form coral lagoon wrapping 200m around the resort and holding over 1.5 million litres of water. The Living Reef will be home to over 100 species of marine fish, coral and invertebrates such as starfish, sea cumbers and crabs all looked after by the Resort’s resident Marine Biologists.
The eco-friendly and educational living reef will offer interactive experiences to guests such as Guided Fish Feeding, Guided Snorkelling in the lagoon and the opportunity to be a Reef Ranger for the day. The Reef will also have a brand-new Underwater Observatory with regular educational talks where guests can learn all about the animals’ behaviour and how they can help protect the residents of the Reef. The island will boast three restaurants and three bars including a new Asian Fusion Restaurant and modern Australian dining. The revitalised pool landscape will allow guests to swim with unparalleled views across the Whitsundays, complemented by a new ‘Barefoot Bar’ serving poolside drinks, snacks and delicious gourmet burgers throughout the day.
